Burgin Blows By KSD

Burgin junior Tommy Lopresto went up for two of his game-high 18 points Tuesday night.

The Burgin Bulldogs used a 19-5 third quarter run to break away from the visiting Kentucky School for the Deaf (KSD) Colonels Tuesday night, get their second, consecutive win, 55-37.

Burgin started the game strong jumping out quickly to a 9-0 lead three minutes into the game, but the Colonels didn’t back down.

KSD outscored the Bulldogs 8-2 over the remaining five minutes of the quarter, but Burgin led, 11-8, after the first quarter.

“I thought we started the game really strong, but then we started to miss some easy transition baskets and some wide open jumpers,” said Burgin Head Coach Brian Kirk.

The Bulldogs didn’t get much offense in the second quarter, except from junior Tommy Lopresto. Lopresto scored nine of Burgin’s 12 second quarter points to help lead them to a, 23-16, lead at halftime.

“Tommy is really starting to get in rhythm. He is playing really well offensively,” added Kirk.
