Strong First-Half Leads Mercer Past Burgin Bulldogs

The Mercer County Titans scored 51 first-half points Friday night against 46th District foe Burgin on their way to an 83-39 win over the Bulldogs in the second game of a boy-girl doubleheader.

The Titans shot 65.9 percent from the field and made 11 three-pointers to help them earn their 12th win of the season, one more than they had all of last season.

Mercer County got out to a strong start, building a 13-2 lead just three minutes into the game.

With Mercer leading 19-8, the Titans got an emotional boost following a rim shaking dunk by freshman Trevon Faulkner, who scored 20 points in the first half.

Faulkner saw an opening in the Bulldog’s defense on the play and made them pay.
