Titans Stay Hot With Win Over Generals

Mercer County junior Alijah Mink shot the ball during the first quarter of the Titan’s 65-24 victory over Thomas Nelson Monday night.
The Mercer County Titans basketball team dominated every aspect of the game Monday night as they beat the Thomas Nelson Generals, 65-24.
Mercer junior Malik Dow started out the game with two points on a dunk, before Thomas Nelson’s Logan Hudson hit a three-pointer to give the Generals a 3-2 lead.
From that point on it was all Mercer.
The Titans closed the period on a 12-0 run, including six points from junior Alijah Mink, to lead 14-3 after one quarter.
“I was just doing anything that was needed. Whether it was playing defense, getting steals, getting assists or scoring. Really just anything I had to do to help my team,” said Mink, who finished with 13 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Both teams had a little more offense in the second quarter, but Mercer County continued to dominate.
Mercer freshman Trevon Faulkner had 10 of his game-high 22 points in the quarter to help push the Titans lead to, 35-12, by halftime.
Faulkner continued to put on a show in the third quarter, scoring 12 points, as Mercer’s lead increased to, 57-20.
