Mercer County Lady Titans Claim Christmas Clash Tournament Title

The Mercer County Lady Titans basketball team had a tall task against DuPont Manual in the Championship game of the Titans Christmas Clash Tuesday night, literally.

Manual, who is one of the top ranked teams in the state, features two girls who stand over 6-foot-one-inch, including 6-foot-3-inch Krys McCune, who is considered one of the states best players.

The Lady Crimsons also finished as state champions just three seasons ago.

They wouldn’t go home as champions on Tuesday night, as the Lady Titans dominated the Lady Crimsons 53-38, all without standout guard Seygan Robins.

Robins, who is battling a right leg injury, sat out the Championship game after playing in the semi-finals against Bowling Green.

Without Robins on the court, the Lady Titans knew they would have to rely heavily on senior Heidi Huffman.

Huffman, who was named tournament MVP, seemed to embrace the leadership role. She finished with a game-high 19 points, which included four three-pointers.
