The Mercer County Lady Titans trailed the East Jessamine Lady Jaguars with less than six minutes remaining in the game Tuesday night, but they found a way to escape with a 67-55 victory.
Mercer County trailed 2-0 to start the game, but quickly took the lead and ended the first quarter with a 16-6 lead.
The Lady Jaguars battled back in the second quarter, cutting Mercer’s lead to three points, 26-23, at halftime.
It appeared as if the Lady Titans were going to run away with the game at the start of the third quarter, as they jumped out to a 34-25 lead midway through the quarter. East Jessamine’s Emma Young refused to let her team go away without a fight. Young had nine of her team-high 19-points in the quarter to help close the gap, 38-34, at the end of the quarter.
