Shorthanded Bulldogs Fall to Pineville Mountain Lions

The Burgin Bulldogs basketball team has been battling the flu the past week. They ran into another tough battle they couldn’t overcome on Saturday as they lost to the Pineville Mountain Lions 48-27.

The first quarter didn’t go well for the Bulldogs as they got down 14-0 early into the game. After the first quarter they were down 16-6.

The second quarter went even worse for the Bulldogs offensively, as they were only able to score one point, thanks in large part to turnovers.

“We weren’t mentally prepared to play a game tonight. We started out slow. When you have 18 turnovers in the first half and only nine shot attempts it’s hard to win,” said Burgin Head Coach Brian Kirk.

After trailing 25-7 at the half, the Bulldogs knew it could only get better for them in the second half.
