Lady Titans Fall In 46th District Tournament Championship

The Mercer County Lady Titans Volleyball team was looking to win their first district title since 2009, but were unable to do so Tuesday night in a loss to the West Jessamine Lady Colts. The match started to look bad for the Lady Titans from the start of the first game, but Mercer County wouldn’t give up.
After trailing as much as 9-4 early on, the Lady Titans fought back to even things up at 13-all.
With the score level, the teams traded the next few points before the Lady Titans went on a roll behind the serving power of senior Darby Whalen to a 21-15 lead.
The Lady Colts tried to fight back to even the score, but Mercer County held off any hopes, winning the opening game, 25-22.
The second game started much like the first as the Lady Colts jumped out to a 5-2 lead, before the Lady Titans started to claw their way back in it.
