Titans Soccer Win for the Seniors

Mercer County soccer player Drew Angel, left, battled Lafayette’s Nicholas SirLouis, right, for the ball during the Titans 2-0 win on senior night, Thursday, Sept. 25.

In a night dedicated to the Mercer County boys soccer seniors, it was fitting that the team got the win behind goals from two players who are playing in their final games, as they beat the Lafayette Generals 2-0.

As all senior nights are, it was an emotional one for the players and families  who said their goodbyes to the team they have played for the last four years. It is also a group that is only three wins shy of becoming the all-time winningest group of seniors in school history.

After the emotions wore off, it didn’t take long for the Titans to get on the board. Senior James Stinnett scored his seventh goal of the season just 12 minutes into the game.

“It was just a little bit of positioning and a little bit of being in the right place at the right time. We were crashing their goal so there were a lot of us up there with the opportunity to score, but I was fortunate enough to be the one to score,” said Stinnett.
