Sullivan Picks Up 100th Career Victory

Mercer County Volleyball Coach David Sullivan earned his 100th career victory Friday Sept. 19.
Mercer County Lady Titans Volleyball Head Coach David Sullivan picked up his 100th career victory Friday, Sept. 19, with a win over Western Hills at the Spike Fest.
Sullivan, who spent stints as the Head Coach from 2004-2007 and took over again as the main man in 2011, credits his success to the crop of girls he has had over the years.
“I’ve been blessed with the group of girls I’ve coached. I feel more accomplished that I have girls that continue their love for the game after they play for me. Currently, I have Marci (Wilham) and Michelle (Yeager) on my staff, and Ellen (VanGilder) is on the Burgin staff. To see them all coaching makes me feel accomplished,” said Sullivan.
Sullivan’s current and former players credit his positive support and love for the game for his success.
“He is more than just a coach to us. He is really supportive, and we can talk to him about anything,” said senior Darby Whalen.
“He doesn’t have a daughter that plays on the team anymore, but he is still out here coaching just as hard as he has in the past (when his daughter Isabelle played). You can tell he just really loves the game, which is a lot of the reason he has been so successful,” said former player and current Assistant Coach Wilham.
