Lady Titans Rally To Beat Western Hills

Darby Whalen killed the ball in the Lady Titans victory over the Western Hills Lady Wolverines Wednesday Sept. 3.
The Mercer County Lady Titans volleyball team won a thrilling match over the Western Hills Lady Wolverines (7-4) Wednesday, Sept. 3, beating the team for the first time since 2009.
The Lady Titans and Lady Wolverines came out matching each other with nearly every shot and the score remained tied at 10 midway through the first game.
With the score tied, Western Hills looked like they were going to run away with the game as they built up a 17-11 lead, but the Lady Titans refused to go away.
Strong serving by senior captain Darby Whalen got the Lady Titans right back in the match with the score tied at 19.
The next few points went back and forth, but three consecutive kills by sophomore Tori Long gave the Lady Titans all the momentum they would need to win the first game 25-22.
