Boyle County

Mercer hosted the Boyle County Lady Rebels Thursday, Aug. 21.

The teams started out slow trying to find a rhythm and trading serves, but it didn’t take long for Mercer County to find their groove.

The Titans had leads as much as 16-9 and 24-12 in the first game, before sloppy play and a rally by the Rebels tightened the gap.

The Rebels battled back to make it 24-17, before a wild shot gave Mercer the first game 25-17.

“We made way too many mistakes, and played really sloppy”, said Head Coach David Sullivan.

The second game started out all Mercer as they led 11-4 early on. But the same mistakes hurt the Lady Titans and Boyle County closed the gap to 15-13.

As the score got closer, Mercer County sophomore Kennedy Bryant held serve for six consecutive serves to extend the Team’s lead to 21-13.
