After a third place showing in the regional cross-country meet last year, the Burgin cross-country team expects an even greater results this year. Head Coach Chris Beckerson is set to begin his 10th year with the program and thinks this group could repeat what his team did in 2008 and win the regional title. Below are questions and answers with Beckerson on the upcoming season.
Q: Who are the key returning runners on this team?
A: “I look for Wesley Qualls, Michael McKenzie and Cooper Shearer to lead this team.”
Q: Which key runners did you lose off of last years team?
A: “The only runner we graduated was Nick Beckerson. Nick led the team last year and finished 11th in the region. It was nice to have an older guy to lean on, but it is also good to have all of these guys coming back.”
