Where Legends Are Made

Emmy Souder goes up for the shot in the Lady Titans third game Monday at the University of Kentucky’s Basketball Camp.

The Mercer County Lady Titans basketball team may be young, but that doesn’t mean they are inexperienced. The team that finished as 12th Region runners-up from a year ago only graduated one senior, and are ready to take it one step further this season.

This week the Lady Titans have been at the University of Kentucky competing in a team camp, preparing for what could be their best chance in years to win the region tournament.

While the Lady Titans may be the favorites to win the region this year, that doesn’t mean they aren’t preparing hard for the upcoming season. The team has played in several summer tournaments in preparation for the 2014-15 season, and have yet to lose, thanks in large part to the hard work they have put in this offseason. “We have been in the weight room since April so that we can get physically stronger,” said Head Coach Chris Souder. Souder hopes the added strength and better conditioning will get his team ready to play in the aggressive and up- tempo style that he expects.
