Burgin and Mercer Track Compete in Boyle Invitational

Mercer’s Mac Guay releases his throw in the boys shot put competition at the Boyle County Invitational track meet Friday.

The Mercer County Titans finished just inside the top five Friday, April 25 at the Boyle County Invitational track meet placing fifth with 61 points. Anderson County won the meet with 134 points followed by Boyle County (122 pts.) and Danville (85.5 pts.) placing second and third respectively. The Burgin Bulldogs finished 12th overall with 12 points. 

In girls competition, hosting Boyle County won the event with 146 points followed by Casey County in second (113 pts.) and Anderson County in third (108 pts.) The Lady Bulldogs finished in a tie for 7th with Danville scoring 39 points. The Lady Titans placed 10th with 14 points.

Girls 4×800 Meter Relay: 2nd- Riley Brown, Taylor Shepherd, Haley Culp, Sarah Auvil (Burgin), 12:24.18.

Boys 4×800 Meter Relay: 5th- Drew Angel, Ty Divine, Garrett Dean, Austin Sparrow (Mercer), 9:25.49; 6th- Michael McKenzie, Wesley Qualls, Nick Beckerson, Cooper Shearer (B), 9:51.03.

Boys 110 Meter Hurdles: 10th- Aaron Johnson (M), 20.04.

Girls 100 Meter Dash: 3rd- Kayla Tyler (B), 14.12; 8th- Anna Mollett (M), 14.40; 15th- Mariah Johnson (B), 15.29.

Boys 100 Meter Dash: 6th- Kobe Ford (M), 11.94; 10th- D Smith (M), 12.27; 17th- Wesley Stewart (B), 14.88; 18th- Jeremiah Holsinger (B), 17.28.
