Lady Titans’ Tennis Sends Seniors Out As Winners

Erin Pigman (left) and Christy Ingram teamed up to earn one of three doubles points in Mercer’s win over Garrard County. Both players won their singles matches, as well.

The Lady Titans tennis squad defeated Garrard County 7-2 on Monday, April 21, sending three seniors out victorious in the last home match of their career.

In singles play, senior Erin Pigman topped Maria Moss 8-0, and senior Christy Ingram beat Alexa Stone 8-2.

Head Coach Diane Beauchamp said those two players have been contributing to the program for eight years, since they were both in fifth grade.

“Christy has been very easygoing, laid back, flexible — can play with anybody. Very dependable and just a very excellent player,” Beauchamp said. “Erin has worked so, so hard and has really become a very strong player in singles for our team, and we appreciate her very much.”

Pigman didn’t surrender a game to her opponent, and she said her serve was to thank for that.

“My serves were good. I didn’t double fault once, which is big for me,” Pigman said. “I usually double fault several times.”
