Lady Titans Softball Falls to East Jessamine

Mercer County’s Gabby Banks leans back to avoid a high inside pitch against East Jessamine. Banks opened the game at pitcher for the Titans.

Ominous skies loomed over the Mercer County Titans’ softball matchup at East Jessamine on Monday, April 14. But, the sound filling the evening air wasn’t thunder — instead it was the Jaguars’ bats.

East Jessamine totaled 10 runs on 12 hits, beating the Titans, 10-2.

“All we kept asking them to do is just keep them close, keep them in range and we’re going to throw everything we had at them with our young squad and see how it turns out,” Mercer County Head Coach Robbie Tharp said. “We just came up a little short tonight.”

The Titans managed two runs on five hits. Although Tharp said his team had good at bats, they just couldn’t solve East Jessamine pitcher Allison Schubert and the Jaguar defense.
