Titans’ Run Ends in Lexington

Mercer’s Chris Voris, center, carries a pile of Lexington Catholic defenders in the Friday night’s game.

The Mercer County football team had their season ended Friday night by Lexington Catholic (L.C.), 49-14. The Titans tailed by just six points at halftime, 17-11, but big plays by the Knights in the third quarter put the game out of Mercer’s reach.

Penalties hindered Mercer’s progress early in the first quarter. A block in the back penalty on the Titans negated a long touchdown run by Chris Crawley-Goodman on their opening drive. As a result, they had to settle for a 26-yard field goal by Travis Fox, giving them a 3-0 lead with 6:46 left in the first quarter.
