Titan Seniors Say Goodbye with a Win

Kobe Ford, left, breaks away from the Bulldog defender on his way to the end zone giving Mercer a 27-20 lead in the Titan’s win over Paul Laurence Dunbar Friday night.

After a shaky start Friday night which involved six fumbles on their first seven possession putting them in a 14-0 hole against the Bulldogs of Paul Laurence Dunbar (PLD), the Mercer County football team was able to battle their way back in a game that went down to the wire.

“I think it was a combination of being sloppy with the ball, not sticking to the fundamentals and not being focused in,” said Mercer Head Coach Chris Pardue on his teams six first half fumbles. “We work on it (ball security) and focus on it in practice. Every day we talk about it and have signs all over the locker room on how to secure the football and for whatever reason tonight in the heat of the battle we just lost that focus.”
