It was all about big plays and takeaways for the Mercer County football team Saturday at Western Kentucky University’s Houchens Industries – L.T. Smith Stadium as they defeated the Patriots of Allen County-Scottsville (ACS), 48-20 in the Rafferty’s Bowl.
The Titans wasted no time showing off their ability as quarterback Drew Davis connected with receiver Layne Peavler for a 71-yard touchdown on their opening offensive play. Peavler gave Mercer the 8-0 lead with 11:40 left in the first quarter after recovering a Chris Voris fumble in the end zone on the two point conversion attempt.
