WILLIE LUCAS

Former Hanover Chief of Police Willie Edward Lucas Jr., age 67, of Harrodsburg, husband of Sharon Marie Pennington Lucas, died Thursday, June 20 at his residence. 

He was born July 27, 1945 in Whitesburg, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Willie Edward Sr. and Geneva Phillips Lucas. He was raised in Whitesburg and graduated high school there. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War.  He  worked at Williamson Heater for five years. He then served as Chief of Police for 17 1/2 years for the Town of Hanover. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Madison Moose Lodge No. 765 and the Fraternal Order of Police Stacks of Power Lodge and Jefferson Post 9, of the American Legion.
