HELEN CARPENTER

Helen Watts Lester Carpenter, 90, widow of Maurice Pitman Carpenter, died June 9, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospital. 

Born Dec. 9, 1922 in Harrodsburg, she was the youngest of five children born to the late Minor and Zerilda Emily Watts Lester. She graduated from Rose Hill High School in 1940 and she began nursing school at the Nazareth School of Nursing at the Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington. After her marriage in 1942, she transferred to Nazareth School of Nursing, Saints Mary and Elizabeth, in Louisville, graduating in 1944.
