Bad First Inning Dooms Mercer

Paige French makes the throw to first base in the Lady Titan’s game Monday.
A costly opening inning by the Mercer County softball team Monday night in the opening round of the 46th District Tournament ended up costing the Lady Titans a chance to advance to the 12th Region Tournament.
Mercer conceded 10 runs to the Lady Colts of West Jessamine (13-21) in the top of the first inning on seven hits, two walks and a pair of errors. It looked like the Lady Titans were in good position to cut into the Lady Colt’s lead in the bottom of the inning by loading the bases with just one out.
