The Lady Titans tennis team celebrates with their Regional Runners-Up trophy Monday night. Pictured front row, left to right: Christy Ingram, Raegan Long, Kyleigh Murray and Emmy Souder. When the 12th Region Tournament came to an end Monday night only three points separated first and second place. Unfortunately for the Lady Titans, they were on the short end of the stick with Casey County beating them 14 to 11.

While the entire Mercer team won’t get the chance to compete at the state tournament, doubles tandem Kyleigh Murray and Christy Ingram will. The No. 1 seeded doubles team managed to beat out the No. 6 seeded Lady Rebels of Casey County, Sara Coffman and Chelsey Lynn, in the championship match Monday night, 6-4, 7-5.

“It was great Christy and Kyleigh won the region doubles title,” said Mercer Head Coach Diane Beauchamp. “Christy stepped up in the semis and finals match, really bumped her level of play to help pull out two close matches. As a freshman and first time region tourney  player, Kyleigh showed a lot of composure and pulled out some big shots and consistent play at critical times.”
