Titan’s Soccer Coach Vogel Leaves for Transylvania

The Mercer County Titans boy’s soccer team received bittersweet news Tuesday morning that Head Coach Matt Vogel would not be returning to lead them in the 2014 season. Instead, Vogel will get a chance to do what every player dreams of, to help coach at his alma mater, Transylvania University, as an assistant coach.  

“I told the team about it around 9:30 this morning, it was a really emotional talk. It’s been an emotional week making this decision,” Vogel siad. “I was so excited about the opportunity to go back to Transy, because it’s an opportunity that comes along once every 10 or 15 years. My decision had nothing to do with Mercer. I loved my time here and that’s what made this entire process so emotional. When I took the job here at Mercer it was never just for one year. I’m 28-years-old, love coaching and this was just something I couldn’t turn down.”
