Stanley Phillips, 90, husband of Frances E. West Phillips, died Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore.
Born in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Davie P. and Mattie Jane Kurtz Phillips. He retired from Boulevard Distillers. He was also a farmer, a member of the Sand Spring Baptist Church and a former member of the Stringtown Ruritan Club. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a son, Stanley (Sue) Phillips Jr. of Hayes, Va.; two daughters, Mary (James) Hawkins and Mattie (Lonnie Jr.) Spaulding, both of Lawrenceburg; a sister, Lena Sims of Harrodsburg; a daughter-in-law Martha Phillips of Lawrenceburg; a son-in-law Garry Carpenter of Lancaster; 10 grandchildren, three step grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one step great-grandchild and four great-great-grandchildren.
