Irene Akers

Irene Howell Akers, 82, of Harrodsburg, wife of John Akers, died Thursday, March 14, 2013, at her residence.

Born in Floyd County, she was the daughter of the late Walker and Ossie Conn Howell.

She was a retired cook for the Harrodsburg School System and was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church.

Survivors in addition to her husband include one daughter, Pam (Sammy) Saddler of Harrodsburg; two sons, Laney (Susan) Akers of Lawrenceburg and David Akers; 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren.
