Burgin Girls Stopped By Casey

A slow start consisting of just five first quarter points doomed the Lady Bulldogs Wednesday night in the opening round of the 12th Region Tournament against Casey County.
The Lady Bulldogs were held scoreless for the opening six plus minutes of the game as the Lady Rebels jumped out to a 7-0 lead. Despite their slow start, Burgin trailed by just four points, 9-5, with 25 seconds left in the quarter thanks to a Taylor Sanders three pointer. The lead was extended back to seven points 20 seconds later on a Christin Terry three pointer, putting Casey County up 12-5 after the first quarter.
“Not scoring a point in nearly the first seven minutes of the game really hurt us and it makes it difficult to come back against a good team like Casey County,” said Burgin Head Coach Ray Daniels.
The Lady Bulldogs managed to pull back within four points with 6:15 left in the first half, 12-8. Casey County answered by out scoring Burgin 15 to 7 for the remainder of the second quarter taking a 27-15 lead into halftime.
