Naomi Bechtel

Naomi “Nannie” Ketchem Bechtel, 90, widow of George F. “Papa” Bechtel, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Manor.  

Born Jan. 6, 1923 in Elnora, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Eva Thomas Ketchem.  She was a homemaker and a child care provider.  She was a member of the Mayo Christian Church where she taught Sunday school and vacation bible school, served as youth leader, ladies’ group leader, and church pianist.

Survivors include three sons, Jim (Dottie) Bechtel, Gary Bechtel and Tom (Sue) Bechtel, all of Harrodsburg; one daughter, Sharon (Jerry) Gritton of Harrodsburg; one brother, Danny Ketchem of Indianapolis, Ind.; three sisters, Darlene Chamberlain of Craig, Colo., Lois Malone of Elnora, Ind., and Sue Pickett of Newberry, Ind.; 16 grandchildren, 26 great- grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
