Horace Houigan

Horace Hourigan, 94, of Harrodsburg, widower of Ruby Long Hourigan died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 at the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore.

Born Feb. 7, 1918 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late James Robert and Clyde Rexroat Hourigan. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II. He was a self-employed plumber and worked at Hayslett’s Mechanical Contractors for 18 years. He was a part-time employee at Gateway, a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 52. 

Survivors include two daughters: Brenda (Tom) Creamer of Shelbyville and Charlotte (Bill) Hammond of Griffin, Ga.; one sister, Mary Helen Zeliff of Harrodsburg, five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
