After spending their entire high school career’s battling one another on the track and cross country courses, Burgin’s Alex Beckerson and Mercer’s Bryant Qualls will be joining forces next year at Kentucky Wesleyan College (KWC) in Owensboro.

“I pretty much see him every race so it’s going to be very interesting,” said Beckerson. “We’ve been talking about it, and it’s going to be nice finally getting to run with him instead of against him.”

Qualls and Beckerson were both successful at the high school levels. Qualls has been named to the All KTCCCA 1st team, All Area 1st team, All Conference team, and All Region 1st team twice and holds the Mercer County cross country team record at 16:57.

Beckerson, who was also named to the All Area team three times, won the Bluegrass Conference twice, finished in second at the region meet twice and placed within the top 15 at the state meet twice and in the top five once. They are both standouts in the classroom as well, each being named to the All State Academic team this year.
