It was a one sided affair Saturday night in Burgin as the Lady Titans dominated the hosting Lady Bulldogs, 72-39.
Mercer’s offense opened the game scorching hot from three point range hitting five three pointers in the first quarter and eight in the first half helping give the Lady Titans a 44-14 lead at halftime.
“We had been off a week and looked a little sloppy in practice leading up to the game, so we wanted to come out and hit them early and we shot the ball really well,” said Mercer Head Coach Chris Souder on his team’s hot start.
“It’s hard to compete, when a team as good as Mercer, is shooting the ball as well as they did tonight,” said Burgin Head Coach Ray Daniels. “Add that we weren’t hitting our lay ups on the other end it makes everything that much harder.”
Mercer’s defense held the Lady Bulldogs to just four points in the second quarter, all scored by Randi Burke.
Burgin did a much better job dealing with the Lady Titans pressure in the third quarter matching them basket for basket.
