While his senior cross country season didn’t end as well as Burgin’s Alex Beckerson would have liked, his reputation as one of the state’s top Class A runners and his performance at the state cross country meet were good enough to earn him a spot on the All-State’s Honorable Mention team.

“I can’t be disappointed with my performance at the state meet,” said Beckerson. “My time was about a minute slower than what I would have liked to had, but injuries definitely played a part in my performance and it was really a rough race.”

Beckerson finished 29th overall in the Class A state meet with a time of 17:53.71. While it might have not been the time he had hoped for, it was a great improvement over how his final season began with a “did not finish” (DNF) in his season opening meet.

“Being named to the honorable mention team really means a lot to me considering the first race of the season I got a DNF due to my knee injury,” Beckerson said. “That was a pretty scary way to start off my senior year looking forward towards the rest of season. So I was really glad I was able to come back from that and earning a spot on the honorable mention team really mean a lot.”
