Bessie Burton

Bessie J. Burton, 83, of Harrodsburg, widow of Raymond F. Burton Jr., died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. 

Born Nov. 30, 1928 in New Hanover, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Doc Curry and Dessie Carter Smith. She was a nursing assistant for The James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital and a member of the Ellers Memorial Baptist Church. 

Survivors include four sons, Raymond F. (Kim) Burton III of Harrodsburg and Joseph C. (Jenny) Burton, both of Harrodsburg, Jack Dale (Bonda) Burton of Stamping Ground and Charles Edward (Diana) Burton of Mt. Sterling; one sister, Mary Lee Grande of South Port, N.C.; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
