Lady Titans Survive Montgomery

The Lady Titans jumped to the top of the 12th Region win total Saturday night with their 11th win, defeating the Lady Indians of Montgomery County (5-10), 3-2.

After a very slow opening 30 minutes of the game, Montgomery County scored a goal in the 32nd minute taking a 1-0 lead.

Mercer’s response came almost instantly as Shannon Murray dribbled the ensuing kickoff through the Lady Indians’ defense inside their 18-yard-box for the goal, tying the game at 1-all eight seconds later.

With two minutes remaining in the first half, Mercer’s Erika Kehrt scored off a corner kick from Samantha Travillian giving the Lady Titans their first lead of the game, 2-1.

Coming out of halftime a goal behind, Montgomery County continued to pressure the Lady Titans defensive line, and in the 45th minute were able to break through for their second goal of the match tying the score 2-all.
