The Lady Bulldogs (14-9) volleyball team picked up their 14th win of the season Tuesday night, defeating Garrard County (5-12), in straight games, 3-0.
Despite not dropping a game, the match was still closer than Burgin Head Coach Maggie McKnight would have liked to have seen.
“I’m really not sure what happened to us tonight.” said McKnight. “Whatever was going on with the team, it seemed to trickle into the second and third game as well.”
Burgin opened the match by winning the first game in extremely close fashon, 25-23. They didn’t look much stronger in their second and third game allowing Garrard to reach 20 points in each.
“We did not come out playing strong or smart and I really felt we were just playing half speed,” said McKnight on her teams performance. “I was very disappointed in the way we played especially after the weekend we had.”
Burgin competed in the state All “A” Classic tournament, going against much stronger competition in Jackson County (10-8), Presentation of Louisville (13-13) and St. Henry (21-6).
