The Mercer County boys soccer team picked up their 10th win of the season Monday night in a one sided, 7-0 shutout win over the Generals of Thomas Nelson (6-3).
“I think we are starting to figure out what we are about and what style we need to play,” said Mercer Head Coach Matt Vogel. “At this point in the season it’s just about getting them to show consistency in playing that style.”
The Titans opened the game at a blistering pace, scoring four goals in the opening 20 minutes of play. Mason Angel opened the flood gates at the three minute mark with Landon Souder doubling the Titans lead six minutes later on a header from a Matthew Raskin corner kick.
Luke Bosse made it a three goal game in the 13th minute before Angel picked up his second goal of the night at the 20 minute mark, bouncing his shot of the right post into the back of the net.
Six minutes later, Souder worked his way free inside the box scoring his second goal of the match on a well placed shot over the General’s keeper who strayed too far from his line.
Mercer went into halftime up 6-0 thanks to Chase Barnett’s goal in the 36th minute off a Daniel Steel assist.
