The Lady Titans were under immense pressure Thursday night hosting the Lady Jaguars of East Jessamine (6-1) in 46th District play.

Mercer (4-3) trailed West and East Jessamine in the three team district, as well as in 12th the Region. With the Lady Titans already losing to West Jessamine, pressure was on the team to not fall to 0-2 in the district.

East Jessamine controlled the opening kickoff, working the ball down the field for a shot on target in the eighth minute, but was handled easily by keeper Amanda Howard. Mercer answered with a shot on target in the 13th minute by Shannon Murray that was deflected out for a corner kick.

The Lady Jaguars were able to clear the danger and control the tempo for much of the first half, out shooting the Lady Titans 3-2, but the game remained scoreless.

Disaster struck for Mercer in the opening minute of the second half on the East Jessamine counter attack.
