Former Mercer County Titan Tre Dunn, son of Michelle Dunn, will begin his second season with the University of Kentucky football program. Dunn walked on to the Wildcat’s football team last season as a linebacker practicing with the team, but sat out of game action after transferring from Campbellsville University after the 2010 season.
“The road I took to get where I am today was far from glamorous or easy,” said Dunn. “Especially being a walk on, you definitely have to earn your stripes. It took a lot of hard work, dedication and sacrifice but when you truly love something and you’re passionate about it, there’s nothing that can stop you from pursuing your dreams.”
Despite how un-glamorous the road Dunn took might have been, it still ends with him wearing the blue and white opening day against the Louisville Cardinals, a dream come true for any son of the bluegrass.
“Playing at UK is a dream come true. I’ve been a Kentucky fan my whole life! I still remember going to all the games when I was little,” said Dunn on playing for the Wildcats.
