The Burgin volleyball team took one step closer to securing the number one seed in the 46th District Tuesday night, defeating the Lady Jaguars of East Jessamine (0-4), 3-0.

A sloppy start by the Lady Bulldogs allowed East Jessamine to gain a 4-3 lead early in the opening match before a Liz Marcinek kill off a Summer Burke assist tied the game at 4-4. Burgin went on to win nine of the game’s next 10 points, taking a 13-5 lead. East Jessamine was unable to close, losing the first game, 25-12.

After back to back aces by Savannah Caldwell to open the second game, it looked as though Burgin wouldn’t be touched. But, East Jessamine continued to hang around early and tied the game at 4-4.
