Lady Titans Win 14th Straight

Mercer won their fourteenth consecutive game Thursday night and fourth straight shutout, defeating the Lady Golden Lions of Garrard County (2-20), 7-0 despite missing starting first baseman Stacia Bryant and third baseman Megan Hilbert. 

Winning Mercer pitcher Tabby Shewmaker went all seven innings giving up two hits and four walks while earning 16 of the games 21 outs by way of strikeout. After recording back to back outs to open the bottom of the first inning, Mercer took five straight bases on balls, taking a 2-0 lead without recording a hit.

Following a leadoff error in the bottom of the third, Mercer’s bats caught fire producing three runs on five consecutive hits including a two run RBI double by Brittany Gibson, giving them a 5-0 lead.
