After going 1-2 in the Sports Den Spring Break Classic held in Pulaski County over the weekend, the Mercer County Titans (9-5) picked up their third consecutive win in their district opener Tuesday night against the Burgin Bulldogs (1-7), 14-2.
“It feels good to open district play with a win,” said Mercer head coach Jeremy Shope. “It’s hard to believe it’s already that time of the season, but it’s always good to get that first win.”
Mercer starting pitcher John Ingram got the win going two innings, giving up no runs on one hit and earning four strikeouts. Ingram defeated Burgin’s Jared Robbins, who also went two innings, giving up four earned runs, six total, on six hits and earning one strikeout.
