The Lady Bulldogs suffered their second straight loss Monday night to the Lady Colts of West Jessamine (2-2), 23-2, in five innings of play.
West Jessamine opened the game by earning four runs off Burgin starting pitcher Olivia May in the first inning taking a 4-0 lead. May gave up a leadoff single to Lady Colt Alyson Archer. Archer managed to steal second and third base before being driven in on a pop-fly RBI by Breanna Isbell, scoring the games opening run.May gave up two more runs off an Ashley Etherton single later in the inning and one more run on an error by the catcher before getting out of the inning by striking out Lady Colt Darian Crossfield. A single by Burgin Senior Kaelyn May put runners on the corners with one out in the bottom of the first.
Olivia May loaded the bases two batters later, but the Lady Bulldogs were caught stealing home and unable to cut into the West Jessamine lead.
Burgin did manage two runs in the third inning, but by that time it was too late as the Lady Colts offense proved to be too much for Burgin to overcome, getting the win, 23-2.
The Lady Bulldogs are scheduled to be back in action Monday, March 26 when they travel to the states capital to take on the Lady Panthers of Frankfort (1-0) with the game scheduled for 5:30.
