Mercer Track Competes at Mason Dixon Games

The Titans and Lady Titans track and field teams competed at the AA indoor Mason Dixon Games state track and field championship Saturday, Mar. 3 at Broadbent Arena in Louisville. Despite not having all their runners at the meet Saturday, the boys team was still able to be competitive, finishing in second place out of a field of 29 teams, including local school Boyle County.
Central High School out of Louisville took top honors with 56 total point, seven points ahead of Mercer’s 49 points. The girls team also preformed well, placing 17th out of 24 teams with eight total points. Rockcastle County finished in first place with 76 points, Central took second place in the girls with 60 points and the Lady Rebels of Boyle County placed third overall with 51 points.

400 Meter Dash: 10th of 23 runners, Erika Kehrt, 1:08.44.
800 Meter Dash: 19th of 27 runners, Anna Mollett, 2:51.48.

4×400 Meter Relay: 22nd of 26 relay teams, Kaitlyn Harder, Angela Romero, Jill Montgomery and Anna Mollett, 5:04.31.
High Jump: 2nd of 19 jumpers, Tayler Lowe, 5-00.00.

55 Meter Dash: 4th of 29 runners, James Johnson, 6.91.
400 Meter Dash: 1st of 26 runners, Isaiah Burrus, 53.19.
800 Meter Dash: 11th of 30 runners, Jawan Smith, 2:15.69.
500 Meter Run: 5th of 26 runners, Bryant Qualls, 4:29.37.
3000 Meter Run: 9th of 12 runners, B. Qualls, 10:14.54.
55 Meter Hurdles: 4th of 18 runners, Aaron Miller, 8.47.

The Titans will begin their outdoor track season Friday, March 23 in the Wolverine Open at Western Hills.
