The scent of an upset slowly dissipated as the final seconds of the fourth quarter came to a close Tuesday night in Burgin’s first round regional matchup against the Lady Rebels of Casey County (18-14). The final chapter of Burgin’s historic season came to a close in Lincoln County, with the team falling 50-43.
The Lady Bulldogs were unable to find their groove as Casey County jumped out to a quick unanswered lead. The Lady Rebels pressured Burgin full court out of the gate, and extended their half court defense in hopes of limiting possessions with the ball in Shavon Majors hands in the post. Early turnovers proved to be costly against the trapping press, and forced Lady Bulldogs Head Coach Chris Myers to take a quick time out. “We expected it we just didn’t handle it well. There were no adjustments to be made, just to go back to what we work on every day in practice,” said Myers.
