Lady Titans Back in District Champtionship

Tabby Shewmaker pulls up for the jumper in Mercer’s 46th District Semi-final win over East Jessamine.
The Lady Titans advanced to the 46th District finals as they have every year since the merger, defeating the Lady Jaguars of East Jessamine, 68-21.
Mercer’s offense struggled early in the game hitting only one field goal in the first six minutes of the opening quarter. Despite their poor shooting, tough defense helped Mercer hold onto a 6-0 lead with 3:39 remaining in the quarter.
“It’s always important to get off to a good start, but it’s a 32 minute game,” said Mercer head coach Chris Souder. “We are a good team defensively, that’s what we’ve relied on all year so the not scoring early doesn’t bother me.”
