End of the Line for Burgin Legend Irvine

Burgin Boys Basketball Players presented Coach Don Irvine with a rocking chair in honor of his retirement.
While players have come and gone, games won and lost, schools closed and districts changed, for the past 10 years one thing has stayed a constant at Jack Coleman gymnasium at Burgin High School, head coach Don Irvine. But at the end of this school year that too will change with Irvine’s retirement from teaching and coaching.
While his coaching career comes to an end at Burgin, it began 32 years ago. After playing high school ball at Pulaski County high school, he got his first assistant coaching job at the age of 24. Irvine got his first head coaching at Augusta High School where he coached both boys and girls basketball teams. He took the Lady Panthers to their first district championship in 1993 with just three players.
