Titans narrowly escape Bulldogs in round one
The Titans and Bulldogs continued their season series deep into the year with Monday’s matchup in the first round of the 46th district baseball tournament.
The Titans owned the two-game regular season series over the visiting Bulldogs, winning by a margin of 23-5 to give them the edge over a Burgin team that looked to avenge their regular season woes in post-season play.
Titans tennis falls short in regions
Titans’ tennis had the distinct pleasure of entering this year’s 12th region tournament at Berea College as the team to beat.
Just a year ago, the Mercer boy’s tennis squad captured the regional title in dominating fashion, and was looking to do so for a second consecutive time against a field of worthy opponents.
Lady Bulldogs fall in first round against East, 13-1
District play during the regular season hasn’t been the best time for the Lady Bulldogs, finishing the regular season winless in district play, 0-4.
Not only were the Lady Bulldogs carrying a troubling district record with them into Monday’s first round of the district tournament, but they were also facing one of the best teams in the area in the Lady Jaguars of East Jessamine.
Lady Titans end season in round one
The last time the Lady Titans and the West Jessamine Lady Colts met each other for a rendezvous on the field, the Lady Colts got the best of Mercer in a 10-0 final at West Jessamine.
The Lady Titans would meet West Jessamine yet again, this time in the first round of the 46th district tournament with hopes of avenging their April 30 loss and moving deeper into the week’s post-season play.
