Mercer School cuts are questioned
Citing the recent state-wide budget cut in educational funding, the school merger, and increases in fuel costs and utilities, Joy Campbell, financial director, reported to the Mercer County Board of Education Tuesday the need to cut $2 million from the 2008-09 school year budget.

"We're a business," said Campbell. "We can't overspend like the U.S. government or the Kentucky government. We made a plan based on how to make cuts to the budget to least affect instruction. We are here to educate kids; we know that."
