Burgin may be the smallest school that the Mercer County volleyball team plays all season, but Lady Titans Head Coach Lynn Flach described her team’s match against the school, which has just over 500 students K-12, as one of the most difficult she has ever been a part of.

“Burgin’s fan base was really strong tonight. Their student section was really good and there were times where we had a hard time focusing,” said Flach. “The crowd really played a factor, but it was a good experience for our girls to come in here and have to play in such a strong environment.”

Fortunately for Flach and her team, the Lady Titans were able to overcome the raucous crowd, winning 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-22).

“We had to learn to cope with the environment in order to pull out the victory,” said Flach.

Both teams came out excited to play their cross-town rival, but the Lady Titans took the 25-19 advantage in the opening set.

“It was important for us to come out and start strong,” said Mercer County senior Tori Long, who led the Lady Titans with six kills and seven assists.
