The West Jessamine Colts scored six runs in the top of the fifth inning Tuesday night to help propel them to an 8-1 win over the Mercer County Titans.

Both teams got strong pitching performances early in the game, as neither team had allowed a hit through the first 3 1/2 innings. Mercer County finally broke through with a hit by Mason Hazelwood in the bottom of the fourth inning, but the Titans couldn’t do any more damage.

West Jessamine, who won the KHSAA State Championship in 2015, not only got their first hit in the fifth inning, they exploded for six runs.
